What makes my day on a wedding?
The answer is chemistry. If there is chemistry between the couple it will most certainly show in the images. Forget about settings, locations, dress. It fundamentally comes down to chemistry between the couple. Sure the locations, setting , and all the details do help. But if you have a combination of all these elements, then Wow! This is what I felt when I was asked to capture Thelma and Calla's wedding. Perhaps having a week off prior to their wedding also helped, as I was anxious to be shooting and was suffering from withdrawal symptoms. I had all these ideas racing through my mind, endless possibilities and a fair amount of time. Having met Thelma the week before we went through a rough sketch of the days proceedings, I was given total Carte Blanche. The benefit of having discussed various ideas and the proceedings before hand with Thelma gave me a feel and insight into what they as a couple wanted from their wedding photography. From the bridal preparations, dressing up I kept the flow moving, and Thelma had an absolute blast. Fun, inspiring and an absolute photographers dream.
From there it was off to L'Quila to capture the groom, table settings and ambience. Prior to Thelma arriving guests were entertained by a saxophonist while snacking on pre eats and refreshments.
Thelma's wedding dress which was designed and made by Vikki West was a perfect match. I'm sure I heard Callas heart beating when Thelma entered into the chapel. The looks they gave each during the service and the way they kept looking at each other just reiterated that the two of them are very much in love. And this is the way it ought to be.
On the drive home, Taryn and myself both smiled and said " What a happy day". Thelma and Calla wishing you both love, laughter and happiness. You are both very blessed.
Below are some of the images captured on the day.
To Kyron, ( My son who will be turning 17 tomorrow Happy Birthday )
